Often times when we are lost, the most helpful tool can be a map. A blueprint to guide us in our decision making, and help us get to our destination.
To provide greater clarity for patients and their families, Dr. Rougeaux- Burnes offers comprehensive psychological, and psychoeducational evaluations for individuals age 5 to 90 aimed at providing diagnostic clarity, as well as guiding treatment recommendations and goals.
Results of these evaluations can be used to assist mental health professionals, primary care physicians, psychiatrists, and school officials in determining the most appropriate therapeutic interventions to employ for patient success. For a school setting, these results can also be used to seek academic services through a child's school. Additionally, these assessments can allow medical personnel a roadmap for determining the most beneficial medication regimen for the individual assessed.
Your First Session
In the first session with Dr. Rougeaux-Burnes, both parents will meet exclusively with the psychologist to discuss your child’s past, current difficulties, and strategies that have been helpful for treatment (without the child present). In the event that this evaluation is for an adult, only the identified patient will be present.
Dr. Rougeaux-Burnes will then determine what testing needs to be conducted to, for example, rule out certain diagnoses or assess specific areas of the individual's functionality. However, as people and their presenting symptoms and underlying difficulties are unique, the scope of testing varies. In conjunction, the cost of an assessment, length of the testing session(s), testing measures to be administered, and generated treatment recommendations are also variable.
After the clinical interview, a testing date will be set. Two weeks after testing, Dr. Rougeaux-Burnes will invite all responsible parties back to discuss the testing results, go over recommendations, and devise a plan of action going forward.
Dr. Rougeaux-Burnes assesses for:
- Behavioral disturbances
- Cognitive deficits and decline
- Communication disorders
- Intellectual functioning
- Learning disorders
- Mood disorders
- Personality functioning
- Other areas of dysfunction
In terms of psychological testing, the fees for services are often more variable and can range from $600 to $2000, depending on length of testing, amount of measures used, and complexity of the case. However, Dr. Rougeaux-Burnes is willing to provide payment options for both you and your family to receive services, as well as provide you with receipts to file for reimbursement with your insurance.
