Karen Smith, M.Ed , received her Master’s Degree in Counselor Education with a focus in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Tech University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and a member of the Texas Counseling Association. Karen lives her life by the motto “strive to create value in all things” which she applies in her person-centered approach when working with clients. Karen believes through counseling we can find value in ourselves, in our adverse experiences, our mistakes, and even in the thoughts and feelings that can be difficult to share with others. Karen believes it is through finding the value in all things and through self-discovery that we can promote change and begin to step into the life we want to live. Karen likes getting to know the person before the “problem” to incorporate techniques best suited for the client’s individual needs and goals from a variety of therapy modalities including CBT, DBT, Art/Music therapy, SFT, EFT, and has received some training in Play therapy.

Karen has a diverse background in helping Adults, Adolescents, and Children as young as five years old, and has experience in addressing, addiction, anger management, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, self-esteem, and more. As a Christian, Karen is willing to incorporate a faith-based approach for those wanting to include faith as part of their journey. Understanding the importance of taking care of the body, mind, and spirit for a holistic approach for wellness.
